Podcast: Healing the Shepherd
Healing the Shepherds to Heal the Sheep
A conversation with Al McCarn
Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Al McCarn for a three-part conversation about my journey and the work the Father has placed on my heart. These conversations are deeply personal, touching on the difficult road that led me from trauma and addiction into recovery, healing, and ultimately into the calling I now walk as the Modern Day Samaritan Woman.
Like many who carry wounds from childhood, my early years were marked by abuse and deep brokenness. Those wounds eventually showed themselves through addictions, destructive relationships, and patterns I did not yet understand. My path toward freedom was not quick or easy. It was a long process of confronting truth, seeking help, and allowing God to rebuild the places in me that had been shattered.
In these interviews, I share openly about that journey. We talk about what trauma does to the human soul, the ways deception can take root in our thinking, and how healing often comes through humility, honesty, and the courage to face what we have buried for years.
Part of my story also includes returning to faith and discovering that some of the wounds I carried were deeper than I had realized. The path toward healing required more than simply returning to church. It required honest work, recovery, and a willingness to allow God to lead me into deeper truth and restoration.
Today, the message on my heart is not only about personal healing, but also about those who lead others. Pastors, teachers, and spiritual leaders carry heavy burdens. They pour into others week after week, often while carrying wounds of their own. Too often, the shepherds have no place to go for healing because they are expected to always be the strong ones.
That is why a vision has been growing in my heart — a place where shepherds themselves can find healing, freedom, and restoration. When the shepherds are healed, the sheep can truly flourish.
Healing is possible. Redemption is real. But it requires humility, truth, and a willingness to allow the Living Water of the Messiah to reach the deepest places in our hearts.
