CONQUER

You came to me in the name of your gods, gods of lust, violence, religion, and greed. I stand before you in the name above all names: Yeshua! King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Master of all! You have not defeated me; I am more than a conqueror in His mighty name! I take authority over you in His name and command you to return to the pit from which you came! (Personal declaration inspired by Scripture.)

Strength and courage flowed through her as she stood in full armor just outside that “house of death,” as her father called his childhood home, which was also her childhood home. A house of death and destruction for sure. Sword in hand, she raised the cold steel sword in victory against the gods of old. She shouted at the wind, the clouds, the sky where the invisible forces were watching. Her voice full of authority, each word concise and exacting with the authority given to her by the  King, Captain of the Host of Heaven.

At one time, she was just a small, weak, defenseless child. She was the only girl born into this family that was haunted by familiar spirits, summoned by the violence and lust of past generations. These spirits, born from Freemasonry, witchcraft, and years of disobedience, sought to devour her soul. They attacked her physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

They recognized her potential and had watched her family line since her ancestors proclaimed "We will" at Mount Sinai when the Holy One spoke the Ten Commandments through Moses. Yes, they observed intently, determined to destroy all those who aspired to be faithful to The Holy One of Israel.

She fought valiantly as a young girl. She fought her brothers every Sunday night while her parents joined their bowling league, socializing, pretending all was right in their world. Meanwhile, their only girl, the youngest, fought off her evil brothers with all her might.

LOVE SHOULDN’T HURT

She continued to fight valiantly against many challenges throughout her life. She battled drug addiction and alcoholism, the only things that numbed her pain and quieted the voices—if only for a while. She fought for safety for herself and her children during several abusive relationships and struggled with suicidal thoughts that began when she was just eight years old. Turning back to the only religious denomination she understood, she found herself fighting against the spiritual forces that sought to keep her shackled. She wrestled with the shame and stigma sitting in the pews beside her, smiling at her every Sabbath.

She confronted her own demons with courage and determination because the battle belonged to Adonai Tzevaot, the Holy One of Israel, the Lord God of Hosts of the Armies of Heaven, for she was chosen from the foundations of the world to be an overcomer, a chosen daughter of the King.

And, so are you, friend! Here are some of the strategies that have helped overcomers. (Not everything works for everyone, so try it and if it doesn’t help, it's okay.)
